Grave fears are held tonight for a yachtsman, washed overboard in wild seas off Port Stephens.
A mayday call was received from the 12-metre yacht, north of Broughton Island just after midday today.
The yacht’s crew lost sight of the sailor, who was reportedly not wearing a lifejacket.
A search was launched – involving the Westpac Rescue Helicopter, water police and Marine Rescue.
So far there’s been no sight of him.
