Newcastle East residents got a taste of life near the V8 track today, with race opponents blasting a recording of roaring engines through the suburb.
The impassioned demonstration turned ugly, as Supercars fans clashed with protestors.
A very colourful protest of Newcastle's V8 Supercars race today. Both sides of debate equally passionate. Full story at SIX. @nbnnews pic.twitter.com/COf4YYI3Kq

You missed the major message of the protest. RIGHT RACE, WRONG PLACE!
No one there wants racing banned. They were simply making the obvious point that racing 600hp cars within the narrow historical streets on an isolated peninsula with a large residential population is madness. None of the other tracks in the series have anywhere near the disruption that this event will cause.
Funny now that something has now affected the East End trendys………..they are off their collective butts, and protesting. Where were you when the fight to save the rail was on?…………….That’s right that didn’t affect you did it ???
