Newcastle wheelchair racer Kurt Fearnley has finished second in the Boston Marathon.
Canadian Josh Cassidy won, breaking the world record by two seconds, with a time of one hour, 18 minutes and 25 seconds despite 30 degree heat.
He finished comfortably in front of Fearnley who clocked in one hour, 21 minutes and 39 seconds.
Fearnley tweeted “Pleased my Second 2nd Place in Boston Marathon. My thoughts are with everyone following!! It’s hot & going to hurt. Hope people stay safe.”
And “Also have to give a huge shoutout to Boston Marathon Wheelchair champ @JoshCassidy84! I was beaten by a far better man on the day!”
Last year, in his first Boston marathon, Fearnley came in one second behind the winner, Japan’s Masazumi Soejima.
