The upgrade of Kempsey’s Smith Street is a step closer, with the design concept finalised by council.
The $3-million street project is part of council’s strategy to boost the economy following the Pacific Highway Bypass.
The design plans will incorporate a ‘country garden feel’ and include gazebo areas, trees and a children’s play area.
Council will call for tenders in September.
Construction is expected to start in February next year.
