After the Melbourne Cup came the City of Gold Coast Cup, with a good result for a local trainer.
Four-year-old gelding Avalanches ran as favourite in the 1800-metre feature race, trained by Trevor Bayliss.
Ridden by Kiwi jockey Grant Cooksley, Avalanches didn’t disappoint, winning his fourth race of his career from 20 starts.
“Avalanches – he looked good on paper and he’s going race right up to it. He raced away to win the Gold Coast City Cup by three. Supercoach got second, Rofranoz third.”
