LOCAL LEAGUE CLUBS IN DRUG SCANDAL

Two local rugby league clubs have been embroiled in a doping scandal.

The pair of “a-grade” players – from the Southport Tigers and the Tugun Seahawks – have been handed two year bans after testing positive to performance enhancing drugs.

The tests were conducted by the Sports Anti-Doping Authority last year after the Bycroft Cup semi final between the two teams.

Queensland Rugby League has issued a statement, saying “we make no apology for the testing regime to ensure we keep drugs out of the sport.”
