MAN CHARGED OVER 2012 FIRE IN TAMWORTH

Detectives have charged a man over a fire, which caused $12-million in damage to a Tamworth high school three years ago.

The fire destroyed the Castlereagh block of Oxley High School on March 18, 2012.

In March this year, police identifed a 20-year-old man as a person of interest, who had since travelled to Malmsbury in Victoria.

The man was extradited to Sydney this week, where he was charged with a string of offences including arson, affray and larceny.

He remains in custody before his next court appearance in Tamworth on June 29.
