Newcastle-built ship, HMAS Tobruk, has docked in Sydney for the last time before it’s officially de-commissioned at the end of next month.
After 34 years dedicated service, the vessel will be retired as the Royal Australian Navy moves to introduce its new Landing Helicopter Dock or LHD’s.
Tobruk has assisted on 26 operations during its time at sea, including recent aid missions to the Philippines and Vanuatu.
Last week the ship also made its final trip to Newcastle, where it was built and then commissioned in 1981.
