The Hunter Development Corporation has resumed control of the old Empire Hotel site on Newcastle’s Hunter Street after plans for an apartment building including a low-cost accommodation component, fell through.
HDC General Manager, Bob Hawes said the site will go back on the market.
“Despite genuine efforts over a lengthy period, HDC and the proponent, Newcastle First, could not agree to final contract terms for the proposed development,” Mr Hawes said.
