MARTINE FREE TO PLAY

Wanderers blindside breakaway Daniel Martine is free to play in this weekend’s Newcastle and Hunter Rugby grand final.

Martine was initially suspended for two matches over a late hit on Hamilton five eighth, Jason Keelan.

Despite a successful appeal from Wanderers, the NHRU then indicated it was taking the matter further, lodging an appeal with Country Rugby Union.

However, the by-laws state only “aggrieved persons” can lodge such appeals, ruling out further action by the NHRU.
