SERIOUS CRASHES TRIGGER HIGHWAY WARNING

Police are pleading with motorists to drive carefully near roadworks, after two serious crashes on the Pacific Highway, north of Port Macquarie.

A 48-year-old man died after he collided head-on with another car at Telegraph Point on Sunday.

It came 12 hours after a woman and child were seriously injured, when their van crashed into a guard rail at Kundabung, further north.

“People are travelling at high speeds, and then they come into these roadworks zones of 40, 60 or 80 kilometres an hour, and sadly the signs of fatigue are resulting in serious accidents,” Mid North Coast Local Area Command Superintendent Paul Fehon said.

Police are asking for witnesses of the Telegraph Point accident to come forward.
