MAN CHARGED OVER TOILET BLOCK EXPLOSION

A 20-year-old man will face court next month, charged with damaging a toilet block in an explosion at Lake Macquarie last week.

Police allege he stole aerosol cans from a supermarket at The Junction last Tuesday night, before using them to set fire to the diasbled toilets at Redhead Beach.

The explosion caused around $20,000 in damage.

Officers attended a home at Windale yesterday morning, where they arrested the 20-year-old.

He’s been charged with maliciously damaging property and shoplifting, and is due to appear in Belmont Local Court on August 24.
