BANTING ENTERS ELIMINATION ROUND IN PORTUGAL

Port Macquarie’s Matt Banting will surf in a sudden-death heat in round two of the Rip Curl Pro in Portugal.

The 22-year-old came second in his opening battle, to a high-scoring Kelly Slater.
