CALLINAN TO FACE FORMER WORLD CHAMP IN PORTUGAL

Merewether’s Ryan Callinan is facing a second round battle with 2014 world champion, Gabriel Medina.
The Novocastrian took on Wilkinson and Brazil’s Miguel Pupo in his opening heat.
Callinan was the most consistent performer, producing four, six-point rides.
But the Brazilian pulled off an eight-point-one to put himself in top spot.
Callinan needed a late seven-point-seven, but came up just short.
