An 80-year-old man has appeared in court after allegedly discharging a firearm in a domestic related incident north of Maitland on Friday.
Police attended a home on Dungog Road at Hilldale, 30km north of Maitland, after reports of a firearm being discharged in a home.
Police spoke to the man, and seized a rifle following a search of the property.
The 80-year-old was charged with firing a firearm in a manner likely to injure a person, possessing an unregistered firearm, and common assault.
A 71-year-old woman was allegedly at the home at the time, and the incident is believed to be domestic-related.
