It has many Novocastrians revved up and today flags were flying in support of November’s Supercars round.
A meeting was held at the foreshore designed to connect those in favour of the event, while also promoting it to the wider community.
It was a small showing today but the group is adamant support is widespread.
The race is expected to inject $57-million into the Hunter economy over five years.

The residents and ratepayers of Newcastle are being taken for mugs, and will make their feelings known at the ballot box in September.
