INJURED MOTORBIKE RIDER WINCHED FROM DENSE BUSHLAND AT ABERDARE

A 46-year-old male has been airlifted to John Hunter Hospital with internal injuries and fractures, after coming of his dirt bike earlier today in the Hunter Valley.

Around 12:30pm, the Westpac Rescue Helicopter responded to reports of a motorbike accident in dense bushland near Aberdare, between Kurri and Cessnock.

Due to limited accessibility, paramedics were driven into the accident scene by a 4-wheel-drive, with Cessnock Voluntary Rescue Association cutting away bush to allow the 120ft winching to take place.

The patient is reported to be in a stable condition.
