A teenager, wanted in relation to an alleged attempted carjacking on the Gold Coast, has mistakenly been released from police custody.
Police say the 15-year-old was in a cell at the Southport Watchhouse, charged with attempted robbery threatening violence.
He was sharing the cell with another boy who was due for release, and when police called out his name, the 15-year-old stepped forward and was accidentally allowed to leave.
Officers chased after him, but he escaped.
The boy is described as Caucasian in appearance, of a slim build, around 176 centimetres tall, with light brown hair and blue eyes.
He was wearing long black trousers and a dark blue shirt.
