Port Macquarie has one of the highest rates of dementia in New South Wales, and today, the community banded together to raise awareness of the disease.
Hundreds of early-risers walked or jogged their way through a six and a half kilometre course along the Hastings River foreshore.
It was one of 18 Memory Walk events staged across the country this year.
Organisers hope to raise $100,000 to help fund a new dementia-friendly garden at Port Macquarie’s Alzheimers Australia Centre.
