Big changes are on the way for rubbish collection services in the Kempsey Shire.
Council is rolling out 36,000 new bins in the lead-up to the new system on July 1, which aims to reduce the amount of waste heading to landfill.
“Our red bin waste is the most expensive to process – so if we can get the waste in the right place and ‘sort and save’ is our logo – we can reduce cost to the community and council as a whole,” Kempsey Shire Council’s Trevor Dixon said.
Under the system, green bins will be collected weekly, while yellow and red bins will be picked up fortnightly.
