A young woman from Quirindi is dead after her vehicle hit a tree in north west New South Wales.
Police believe the Hyundai hatch was travelling on Werris Creek Road, about 20km south of Tamworth shortly before 7am, when the car hit a duck.
The vehicle then left the road, crashing into a tree.
Despite the efforts of police and witnesses to revive the 19-year-old driver, she died at the scene.
