RFS WARNS AGAINST HAZARD REDUCTION BURNS

While this week’s unseasonably hot weather is great for some, it’s a danger for others.

The Rural Fire Service have now set the Fire Danger Ratings to very high.

They’ll be taking a break from Hazard Reduction Burns over the next few days.

They’re asking Coffs Harbour and Bellingen Shire residents to do the same.

“We’ve still got a couple of weeks to go to get the burns, but if they can hold off until Friday and get over this little hot spell we should be ok.”

The R-F-S have been required to attend more than a dozen hazard reduction burns where landowners lost control over the past month alone.
