A truck driver had a lucky escape early this morning after his rig rolled and burst into flames on the Pacific Motorway, 4 kilometres south of Urunga.
It’s believed the driver lost control of the B double about 1.30am, crossing four lanes of the highway and crashing down a gully before it was engulfed in flames.
Quick thinking motorists rushed to help the trapped driver pulling him to safety through the windscreen.
The 53 year old suffered chest injuries and cuts to his face.
