NEWCASTLE BASED RSL SUB BRANCH COMMEMORATE AUSSIE DIGGERS IN CRETE

True to its word, a local RSL sub branch has delivered a plaque commemorating the service and sacrifice of Aussie diggers on the Greek Island of Crete during World War Two.

Specifically, it recognises the contribution of now 101-year-old Alf Carpenter.

Back home…and a candlelight vigil is underway in Civic Park’s Memorial Grove, ahead of ANZAC Dawn services and marches across the region tomorrow.
