Gunnedah Jockey Club is stepping up, and hosting several races as part of the annual Cox Plate Cup on Saturday.
It comes as Armidale Jockey Club pulls out, due to harsh drought conditions.
Gunnedah will host six races on the day to shoulder some of the burden, but the multi-million dollar main event will be held at Moonee Valley as planned.
