A Hunter man has been arrested and fined $5, 000 for spitting on a police officer during an arrest.
Police attended a Metford home just before 7pm last night, after reports of a domestic-related, intimidation incident.
Two men, aged 36 and 62, spoke to police, before the younger man was arrested.
As officers tried to put the arrested man in the police car, he allegedly punched one of the officers in the head.
During the incident, the older man allegedly pushed, hit and spat at a female officer in the chest.
The 62-year old was also arrested.
The men were both taken to Maitland Police Station and charged with numerous offences.
The pair is due to appear at Newcastle Bail Court later today.
