LOCAL RFS UNIT RECOGNISED FOR EXCEPTIONAL SERVICE AND BRAVERY

After a devastating summer of bushfires, the Rural Fire Service’s Far North Coast unit has been recognised for its exceptional service and bravery.

The senior management team yesterday awarded a certificate of commendation by the new RFS Commissioner, Rob Rogers.

“It’s an honour to get an award like this so yeah thank you very much for the people that nominated us I suppose,” Far North Coast RFS Group Captain Mark Eglington said.

The unit, which covers the Ballina, Byron and Tweed Shires, was one of only five in the state to receive the commendation.
