A preliminary report into a deadly plane crash in the Hunter has found the aircraft suffered engine failure.
The Australian Transport Safety Bureau says the amateur-built light plane was on its third test flight.
It crashed at a Windella property just three minutes after take-off last month, killing pilot Andy Shepherd.
A final report is expected to be released in the coming months.
