ANZ BRANCH IN WEE WAA TO SHUT UP SHOP

More and more people are dealing with their finances solely online and it’s forcing regional banking branches, like ANZ at Wee Waa, to close their doors.

The local branch has seen a slump in face-to-face banking, and will now shut up shop indefinitely from March next year.

But local business owner, Luke Noble, says it will have a detrimental effect on the wider community.

“It’s not just us there’s Pilliga, there’s Burren, there’s a wider community that use that branch as well and you’re pushing them further away to do their business.”

An ANZ spokesperson says it aims to retain as many employees as possible.
