SOUTHERN CROSS UNIVERISTY TO AXE 63 JOBS TO MINIMISE BUDGET BLACKHOLE

Southern Cross University will be axing 63 full-time staff in a bid to half its budget blackhole.

New Vice-Chancellor Professor Tyrone Carlin says the job cuts will take their current shortfall from $33 million, to $16 million.

“I know it sounds like an absolutely shocking number, and it is. The point that we’re working through at the moment is that number would have been a whole lot bigger, and it would have been incredibly difficult for us to withstand that,” Vice-Chancellor, Professor Tyrone Carlin, said.

There’ll be 50 job losses in Lismore, 7 in Coffs Harbour and 22 on the Gold Coast.
