LABOR CALLS FOR COUNCIL MERGER INQUIRY

The state opposition is calling for an inquiry into council mergers amid Central Coast Council’s $89 million deficit.

The probe would look into how affected councils’ finances have been impacted by the amalgamation process.

A report by LSI found $1 billion has been lost over the past three years across those New South Wales councils.

Local Government Minister, Shelley Hancock was approached for comment.
