Two Lismore midwives have been commended for their bravery after sheltering patients from falling debris at the Base Hospital in 2015.
Leanne Chamberlain and Mary-Ann Hyde threw themselves across mums and their newborn babies after a storm hit the city – with scaffolding collapsing onto the maternity building.
The pair were nominated for the award by the Nurses and Midwives Association.
