The reigning A-League champions Melbourne City showed their strength with a 4-2 win over the Newcastle Jets last night at McDonald Jones Stadium.

The Jets were there for the fight but couldn’t contain the scoring skills of Jamie Maclaren, Matthew Leckie and Florin Berenguer .
Beqa Mikeltadze scored when Valentino Yuel was fouled, and in the 84th minute Angus Thurgate found the net to bring some respect to the final scoreline.
