Taree cyclist’s epic trek to raise funds for kids with cancer

He’s renowned for working with retired veterans,

but Taree’s Darcy Elbourne is this month turning his attention to sick children.

The 71-year-old is taking part in the Great Cycle Challenge- riding 1000 kilometres to raise funds for the Children’s Medical Research Institute.

It’s the fourth time Mr Elbourne has entered this challenge – this year named as the local ambassador.

“I started off after had a bout of cancer myself it was a bit of a shock to my system and I thought this must be terrible for children”

The Challenge has raised more than $3.7 million dollars, since 2013.
