MAN ARRESTED AFTER ALLEGEDLY CRASHING STOLEN CAR

A 25-year-old man has been arrested following a crash near Newcastle, which allegedly injured a pedestrian.

Police were called to Cardiff at around 6:30 this morning after a Ford Falcon utility was allegedly stolen.

They located the vehicle in Wallsend and began a pursuit, but that was terminated a short time later due to safety concerns.

The ute came to a stop in Cardiff at the intersection of Main Road and Harrison Street, after the driver allegedly lost control, hitting several cars and a pedestrian who was getting into a taxi.

The pedestrian was taken to John Hunter Hospital in a non-life threatening condition.

The driver of the ute has been taken to Charlestown Police Station.
