The long-awaited upgrade to Kempsey’s Smith Street is one step closer, with council calling for tenders for the $3-million streetscape project.
The work will see new paving, landscaping and street furniture done on the busy street.
The project is part of council’s strategy to boost the economy following the Pacific Highway Bypass.
Tenders close on January 6, with construction expected to begin in March.
