A larger number of international tourists, have chosen Port Stephens as their summer holiday destination – according to a key tourism group.
Destination Port Stephens Chairman, Allan Rae says a weakening Australian dollar is behind the influx of overseas visitors.
“Traditionally it’s a domestic market at Christmas time but we are seeing an enormous amount of overseas people here the fall in the dollar has of course contributed to that”, he said.
The tourism group says bookings are also up for accommodation and cruise operators.
