LAKE MACQUARIE MAN CHARGED AFTER DRIVING STUNT

A 53-year-old man who allegedly did a burnout in front of police at Lake Macquarie has been charged with a number of drug and traffic offences.

About 7:30 last night, police were patrolling Lake Road at Argenton when they saw a white Holden Commodore do a burnout on the median strip.

Officers stopped the vehicle and allege the driver was drinking a beer at the time. Following a search, they allegedly located methylamphetamine and cash.

The driver was arrested and taken to Toronto Police Station where he was charged with a number of offences, including supplying a prohibited drug, consuming alcohol while driving, driving an unregistered vehicle, and driving unlicensed.

He’s been granted strict bail and is due to appear in court on January 27.
