Despite fervent opposition from Wyong, Lake Macquarie councillors last night voted overwhelmingly in favour of moving the city’s southern boundary, to include five lakeside communities.
The council’s submission will now be sent to the state government.
If approved, Summerland Point, Gwandalan, Mannering Park, Chain Valley Bay and Kingfisher Shores will move from Wyong Council’s control, to Lake Macquarie’s.
