HUNTER MAN PLEADS NOT GUILTY TO ANIMAL CRUELTY

A 58-year-old Hunter man has pleaded not guilty to torturing, beating and seriously injuring a cat earlier this year.

Greg Richardson fronted Kurri Kurri Local Court this morning, where the plea was entered by his barrister.

Richardson allegedly swung a cat around by its tail and hit it against a trailer in May, leaving it paralysed for life.

He’s due to reappear in court on August 11.

Outside the court, animal activists staged a silent protest.

We’ll have all the details in tonight’s NBN News at six.
