A man will front court charged with assault after he allegedly assaulted another man with a tyre iron at Port Stephens.
Around 8.30pm last night, a neighbour saw a man in the garage of a property on Fairlands Road, Mallabula, while the owners were away.
The neighbour confronted the man, who allegedly struck him in the face and on the neck with a tyre iron.
Other neighbours came to assist, and the intruder was subdued until police arrived.
The 31-year-old is facing a raft of charged including trespass, assault and breach of bail.
