Tamworth’s ever growing flying fox population is continuing to cause a racket in the CBD.
The grey headed flying foxes have made themselves at home along the Peel River.
One colony is behind Bicentennial Park, the other and larger of the two is at King George Avenue.
“Within the space of a weekend shortly after that population increased overnight to the 100, 140 thousand that you see now.”
It’s estimated that less than 1 per cent of these flying foxes have the potential to carry Hendra Virus.
But horse owners are urged to take care with covering feed and water supplies.
