SURFEST EVENTS BEGIN WITH PADDLE BATTLE AT REDHEAD

Sydney’s James Kasey has won the elite men’s Paddle Battle division, which forms part of the Lake Macquarie Festival of Surfing.
32 competitors lined up at the start, ready to tackle an hour long test of endurance in the tricky conditions.
Marking the start of this year’s Surfest competitions, the battle is part of the richest ever Stand Up Paddleboard contest in Australia.
Day two of the festival continues tomorrow, with the finals of the men’s and women’s Stand Up Paddleboard divisions.
