State opposition Leader Michael Daley has slammed the current contract requiring any future Newcastle container terminal operator, to pay excessive charges.
The Labor leader says the contract only serves to protect Sydney-based business interests.
A parliamentary inquiry – examining how the deal was reached, is currently underway.
