Two Ballina locals are being praised after vision emerged on social media of the pair saving a distressed wallaby.
The marsupial came into trouble while swimming at the mouth of the Richmond River yesterday.
Cooper Allen and Lenny Smith used a surfboard to rescue the animal, before releasing it at nearby scrubland.
