The Football Federation of Australia have labelled comments made by Gold Coast United owner Clive Palmer as “offensive to players, coaches, administrators and volunteers”.
It follows reports today that the billionaire was quoted as saying he didn’t even like soccer, preferring Rugby League.
Here is the FFA Statement on Clive Palmer.
“Football fans across Australia will today rightfully condemn the lack of respect inherent in comments made by Clive Palmer,” said FFA CEO, Ben Buckley.
“The comments are offensive to the players, coaches, administrators and volunteers who are the life and soul of Australian football.
“We welcomed Clive into the game and lauded his investment, but no matter how frustrated Clive may feel about his involvement, these comments are out of order.
“I remind Clive that as a chairman and owner of a club, he has obligations to the competition, his fellow club chairman and investors in the other nine clubs, and to the game itself.”

One response to “CLIVE PALMER PANNED FOR COMMENTS”
As a past administrator in the NSL and other areas of the game, I was concerned when Clive Palmer entered the game boasting as he did about his expectations for his new club. He obviously has no idea about the game nor about how to run or manage a club. The running of a club at this level is probably one of the most difficult small business models around and the likes of Palmer lacks the necessary skills to achieve success in this climate.
One just hopes he has good people in his mining interest or his ego will hurt allot more people than in football.
