Central Coast high jumper Nicola McDermott has started her European season in style – winning second place at the Folksam Grand Prix in Sweden. McDermott cleared a 1-point-9 metre jump on Monday , after flying 25 hours from Sydney. The 23-year-old will compete in the Stockholm Diamond League later this month. (VISION ONLY)

BYRON STAPLETON WINS U18 BOYS HIGH SCHOOL SURFING STATE FINAL
8 days of surfing wrapped up at Park Beach today, with the under 18s High Schools State Titles. Avoca Beach’s Byron Stapleton won the boys final, and Cedar Leigh-Jones took out the girls.

Avoca surfer Lennox Chell’s star continues to rise – with the goofy footer adding yet another state junior title to his collection. But his Under 18s campaign, was not without its struggles at Sawtell Beach.

Lauren Moore has had the best start to a Super Netball season in her career. After missing 12 months due to injury, the Bateau Bay junior has starred in the opening two rounds, including a nail biting win against West Coast yesterday.

SHARPE STARS IN WYONG WIN
Fullback Luke Sharpe starred for the Wyong Roos in its 10 point win over Maitland in the Newcastle Rugby League competition. A second half fight back from the Pickers though gave the Roos a late scare.

LOCAL SURFERS PROGRESS ON DAY FOUR OF JUNIOR STATE TITLES
Tricky conditions at Sawtell meant surfers were forced to hunt for the best waves on day four of the Junior State Surf Titles. Local surfers Ryley Smidt, Rino Lindsay, Lennox Chell and Kai Nudd all making it through to the next round in the 18s boys.
