    MIRACLE ESCAPE IN HALLORAN LIGHT AIRCRAFT CRASH

    A pilot escaped without a scratch after his light aircraft suffered engine failure and crashed on the state’s Central Coast this afternoon. He managed to bring the single-engine plane down on a property, just missing powerlines, buildings and livestock.

    A couple has miraculously escaped serious injury at Holgate, after their ute left Paroo Road and ended up more than four metres down an embankment. A woman inside suffered a hand injury, while a man was uninjured – both were taken to Gosford Hospital. It’s the third such crash on the road in six months.

    The Newell highway has reopened following a fatal accident this morning. A woman died after being hit by a car about 35 kilometres south of Coonabarabran. It’s understood she was walking near Hickeys Road at 6.30am. Police are investigating but no charges have been laid.
