SINGLETON SLATED FOR POSSIBLE DETENTION CENTRE
Shock is resonating throughout the Hunter Valley, following news the mining town of Singleton could become home to a new detention centre. Up to 1,000 asylum seekers would be housed at the facility inside the local army base, if the government’s PNG solution falls over.

BREAKING NEWS: EXPLOSION AT TUNCURRY
There’s been a large explosion at Tuncurry on the Mid North Coast. The Lakes Way has been closed in both directions at Chapmans road after reports of a gas explosion at a house, which was felt over a wide area. More to come.

MALCOLM NADEN SENTENCED TO LIFE IN PRISON
Former bush fugitive Malcolm Naden has been sentenced to life in prison for the murder of Kristy Scholes. Justice Price also sentenced Naden to a minimum of 21 years for the murder of his cousin Lateesha Nolan. Naden also pleaded guilty to a raft of other charges, including the indecent assault of a 12-year-old girl…

WOMAN’S BODY FOUND IN CHARRED HOUSE NEAR TAMWORTH
A woman’s body has been found in the remains of a burned house in Tamworth this morning. Firefighters found the body at the Wallabadah property early this morning. An 85-year-old-woman had been living in the Coach Street home. Emergency services believe the fire was caused by a heater.

An elderly man was killed when his ultralight crashed on a mid north coast property this morning. Witnesses reported seeing the aircraft flying low before the deadly impact.
