Now at the pointy end of the Lower Mid North Coast Rugby Competition – semi finals are just days away. Manning River will face off against Wauchope on Saturday, in what will be their toughest test in weeks.

Punters across the Nambucca Valley will go without the Bowraville Cup this year with it announced today the annual race would not go ahead. The call made by Racing NSW is due to a lack of entries for the TAB event.

The Harbour Knights are through to the New England Rugby Union preliminary final, after a dominant performance against Saint Alberts College at Coffs Harbour yesterday. The Knights piled on early points and gave the the Albies little chance of a comeback.

In Lower Mid North Coast rugby, the Manning River Rats have wrapped up the minor premiership with a whopping 47 to nil thrashing of Old Bar. Wallamba defeated Gloucester 74 to 12 and in the match of the round, Wauchope defeated the Hogs 22 to 5.

To local football now, and Coffs United has firmed its place at the top of the the ladder in the Northern Coastal Premier League, with a solid win over the Bombers yesterday. The Storm and Sawtell also had convincing wins.

The Harbour Knights rugby union side hit the paddock this afternoon for the captain’s training run, ahead of tomorrow’s minor semi final. A win will see the Knights progress to the knock-out preliminary final next week.

Time is ticking for Coffs Harbour to remain the preferred location for the proposed regional athletics centre – however, finding a site locally is proving difficult. The community is encouraged to have its say – a site selection report to be placed on public exhibition.
